This is 1961 Ken before his brunette flocked hair head was changed in 1962 to a molded head
According to "Something about the Boy," "The first Kens were issued with red shorts (with white stripes down the sides) and sandals, towel, wire stand and booklet."
Condition: Very good original vintage condition. The doll comes with original trunks, towel and flip flops. Sold by the original owner from a smoke free home. After researching various sources, I elected not to wash or dry clean the clothing so that buyers have the option of doing so.
All physical parts are present in good condition. Some stray dye marks on the where pants would be. No chew marks or dents.

12” Tall, vinyl
brunette flocked hair (fuzzy headed) - missing some fuzz at forehead
straight legs, hollow torso
right foot marked Japan on bottom
blue eyes, thick brown eyebrows, mauve lips
A Ken stock No. 750 box
One corner seam is torn from cover sides (see pictures)
Another seam is torn from the container box
black wire stand
First outfit #30
red trunks white stripe on side
cork sandals, red vinyl straps
yellow terrycloth towel (added soon after earliest produced dolls)
Note: the box shows never-produced black and white (to copy Barbie) trunks; the red trunks came in different fabrics over time.)

Mattel Ken Wrist tag, box liner, cellophane bag, or card insert
Mattel booklet that came with the doll
