Daruma Doll
Bodhidharma, the founder of the Zen tradition of Buddhism, is portrayed as a red bearded man with two blank eyes. This traditional Japanese doll symbolizes good luck and perseverance because of his life's story. The history dates to the 17th century.
Customarily, its owner would think of a wish or goal, and paint in one of the dolls blank eyes with black ink, representing the beginning of his/her commitment. The doll would be placed prominently in the home or workplace. The second blank eye would be filled in upon accomplishing the goal or wish.

Approximately 3 inches in diameter, though not a perfect circle.
